Samadhi Dance Company's performances focus on spiritual and philosophical issues, which have their origins in both ancient Eastern and contemporary Western cultures and literary works. These issues are translated into dance in a virtuoso, authentic and moving way through the emotion teaching known as 'Navarasa' (yoga of the 9 emotions), from which a collective emotion or 'rasa' flows during the performance.
To date, the dance company has produced 21 performances and performed in the Netherlands, Belgium, the United Kingdom, Italy, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Germany, Bulgaria, Colombia, India and Russia. Samadhi Dance Company has built up a loyal online fan base over the years with currently 80,000+ followers.
Artistic Director & Choreographer Vraja Sundari
Vraja Sundari Keilman, born in 1982 in Amsterdam, was raised in an artistic family deeply rooted in spiritual traditions. She studied classical and contemporary ballet at renowned dance academies in Amsterdam (Amsterdam Theaterschool) and Rotterdam (Codarts), eventually venturing into professional productions under various companies such as Scapino Ballet and Korzo Productions.
In 2007, Vraja founded the award-winning Samadhi Dance Company, renowned for its honest performances and innovative approach to dance, capturing the hearts of audiences and critics alike.
Vraja's artistic exploration led her to research the connections between diverse dance forms, culminating in the development of a unique movement language that fuses Vedic principles from yoga and ancient Indian dance with Western techniques, bridging Western and Eastern arts and philosophy.
Her method not only expands movement vocabulary but also aims to connect individuals with themselves and their surroundings, transcending cultural boundaries and enhancing physical, emotional, and mental well-being, ultimately fostering freedom of movement and individual expression.
Throughout her career, Vraja has created and performed numerous dance productions, receiving accolades and nominations for her groundbreaking work. Her commitment to artistic excellence and holistic well-being has earned her a dedicated international following, with collaborations and performances across Europe and beyond.

Co-Creator Ederson Rodrigues Xavier
Xavier, born in Brazil, has been based in the Netherlands since 1993, working as a professional dancer, choreographer, dance teacher, and freelance artist. He holds a BA in Digital Filmmaking from Middlesex University (UK) and is a certified Fletcher Pilates instructor. Xavier has worked with notable companies like Scapino Ballet Rotterdam, Leineroebana Music&Dance company, Duda Paiva Company, and Frankfurt Ballet, and has won awards such as the Zwaanprijs for Best Dancer in 2002. Self-taught in Brazil in various dance styles, he later studied at the SNDO Theaterschool in Amsterdam. Today, he continues to create and collaborate across diverse dance and performance projects.
As an artist, Xavier embarks on a continuous exploration, seeking innovative avenues to enrich his roles as a choreographer, videographer, performer, and teacher.
Rooted in a profound musical fascination and characterized by a chameleon-like perspective, Xavier's work is a testament to intricate, sharp, yet fluid movement vocabulary. His meticulous construction of movement draws from a detailed understanding of the body's relationship with space and time, serving as a potent medium to convey concepts and expressions.
Guided by a deep appreciation for the sensorial body, Xavier finds inspiration at the crossroads of dance, other disciplines, and technology.
